Independent Film and TV Producers: Creative Financing Strategies in Today's Volatile Economy
Monday, Nov. 9

These are challenging times for indie producers and  filmmakers.  With less time available for prime time TV programming, and networks preferring lower cost reality shows, traditional distribution models are scarce.   What are realistic income streams from such foreign distribution,  on-demand, internet download and direct website DVD sales?

We also advise current and aspiring filmmakers and TV producers on useful business and legal knowledge in film and TV production. It will also address filmmakers' and TV producers' concerns about issues like protection of rights, structuring a production deal and setting up equitable partnerships for better monetary returns.

In this workshop, each speaker will give a 30 minute presentation followed by questions and answers.

The Internet has dramatically changed the landscape on how indie producers can get exposure for their content; but can it really help you sell for TV and film distribution? How do you sell your idea using these new tools?  Once you've sold it, what is the role of the show runner for TV or executive producer for film? What sort of work experience builds the skills required to become a successful producer? How do you get your idea produced even if you don't yet have traditional producing experience?

You must attend if you have:

    • An idea that you think could be turned into a movie
    • A screenplay or hot property hidden in a drawer or sitting on your desk ready to be produced
    • A non-fiction book or a fiction book that you want to develop into a feature film, TV pilot, movie of the week, or cable TV show
    • A project that you know will make a great film, movie, television show, or book, but just don't know where to take it
    • A project you're trying to sell with no success, and don't understand why your screenplay, novel, non-fiction book, fiction book, self help book, life story or idea isn't finding the right home

Learn how to pitch and develop your screenplay, book, story or idea made into a movie, TV program, mobile or web series.

    You'll learn:

This seminar from industry experts will tell you address the combination of traditional and new media strategies, how to use contacts and introductions, and to reach decision makers.

Includes pitch fest. A few selected members of the audience can give a 2 minute pitch to the speakers; and hear feedback on their ideas. See what a live pitch meeting is like!
